Usually, this city is pretty safe for vistours but there are some favelas it's best to stay out of. Among these, the Serviluz favela, situated between the old lighthouse, or the one behind the train station. Also, try to avoid the Passeio Publico during night and Av Abolicao and its western and eastern ends.
