There are many places from where you can buy crafts in Recife starting with Casa da Cultura (which is the permanent craft market); here you can buy ceramic figurines for lower prices. In Praca Boa Viagem there is the Hippy Fair with statues of saints made from wood for sale. It's right on the sea front.
