The small and friendly Carioca Da Gema was one of the first samba clubs in Lapa. I visited at the opening in 2000. It is located on Av Mem de Sa 79, Lapa. Now it is surrounded by clubs but it still has the best samba bands performing there almost every night. It has a spacious dance floor filled up with a mixed samba loving crowd. Go there on Monday and Friday- when the most popular bands perform.
