Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro

Posted 1 year ago by munoz in response to avatar abdul's question: How can I reach the Corcovado peak and why is it the symbol of Rio de Janeiro? (give a different answer) .

There's a 120 feet statue of Christ, carved in stone on the summit. His arms are stretched to embrace the blessed city, actually nicknamed "The Marvelous City". The statue was built to commemorate 100 years from Brazil's independence achievement and is reachable by train or taxi. Take the train from Cosme Velho Train Station and in twenty minutes, after crossing the Tijuca National Park, you'll be there.
