forestgump's question:
What major celebrations do they have in Salvador? Last year I took part at Rio's Carnaval, but now I want to change the picture.(give a different answer) .
Salvador has a full agenda in December, January and February. At the end of Dec, the natives honor the god of navigators in the so-called Nosso Senhor dos Navigantes, while at the beginning of January women wash the steps of the Church of Bonfim to celebrate African Hymns. Instead of samba, you'll hear African axe music and interpretations of Olodum, Salvador's percussion group for the carnival. Go to Casa do Olodum in Rua Gregorio de Matos to hear a rehearsal!
