In the Parque da Independencia, about 5.5 km southest of Sao Paulo centre, behind the Museu Paulista, also known as Ipiranga Museum, there is the Horto Botanico - Ipiranga Botanical Garden which preserves some of the Atlantic Forest plants. The garden is open Tuesday to Sunday and during holidays, mostly from 9 am to 5 pm.
