I suggest to take a trip to Parque Estadual Alberto Lofgren, in Tremembe. You need to drive about 30 min north from the downtown area. There you'll see the Horto Florestal which contains examples of nearly every species of Brazilian woodland flora, there are also about 15 km of natural trails for walking, a museum of regional flora and fauna, and a great view of Sao Paulo from Pedra Grande, on the right of the entrance to the park.
